Elon Musks says he loaded a submachine gun into a Cybertruck "Al Capone style" – Futurism

Is he serious?

Cyber War

A Tesla Cybertruck was spotted driving down a highway at night with dozens of what appeared to be bullet holes in its side doors – and we’re just as amazed as you are.

There were recordings of the encounter Posted from the Tesla Owners Silicon Valley account on X, formerly Twitter, supposedly taken over by a member of the club.

And yes, it gets wilder. The automaker’s CEO Elon Musk responded to a repost of the video to seemingly clarify what happened, but in reality only confused everyone further.

According to Musk, he and his engineers were actually responsible for the damage – assuming he wasn’t joking and causing chaos, as he is known to do.

“We emptied the entire drum magazine of an Al Capone-style Tommy gun into the driver’s door,” Musk said in one post to X. “No bullets entered the passenger compartment.”

Shoot to thrill

We have many questions, such as: Why? And isn’t it crazy to joke about it, let alone seriously claim it?

It’s worth noting that Tesla has stated that the Cybertruck would be bulletproof. Infamously, this sales pitch didn’t come to fruition when Musk threw a metal ball at the window of a Cybertruck during an onstage demonstration, causing it to shatter. From what we can see from the blurry new footage, it doesn’t look like any bullets were fired at the glass, and probably for good reason.

At least these gaudy stainless steel panels, which are riddled with numerous bullet holes, are no less an eye-catcher if they are true. And really, contrary to expectations. It’s an unorthodox choice for ballistic protection and, for that matter, anything car-related.

Of course, Musk has made outlandish claims about the Cybertruck’s capabilities in the past, so he could well be getting on our nerves here.

In the past, he had explained that the rigidly shaped SUV should not only be waterproof, but also serve as a boat. Even more boldly, Musk suggested that a “printed version” of the vehicle could survive on Mars. And that’s without addressing the crazy claims he’s made about previous Tesla vehicles.

Then again, we wouldn’t put it past Musk to actually load a submachine gun into his company’s expensive truck that’s stuck in kickbacks. Maybe it was his way of letting off some steam.
