Elvis Experience in Montreal in December 2023: Martin Fontaine’s King does not want to die – Le Journal de Québec

Although the concerts given during the Christmas season at Quebec’s Capitole Theater were heralded as his final round in his role as Elvis Presley, Martin Fontaine will once again revive the king in Montreal in December 2023.

Six performances of Elvis Experience The Final Act/Blue Christmas will be performed at the Saint-Denis Theater between December 7th and 16th.

This show, minus the Blue Christmas component, was also shown in Gatineau, Montreal, Trois-Rivières and Saguenay in 2022.

After 28 years of stepping into the shoes of the one and only Elvis, Martin Fontaine still can’t say no when asked to don his idol’s clothes and wig.

“He’s immortal. He’s a superhero,” laughs Martin Fontaine on the phone, aware that there is nothing more cliched than an artist who returns to the stage after his departure.

“It was Jean’s (pilot, the producer’s) idea that after 27 years we had to end this and give up the guitar. At the same time, if there are other requests, we can do it again. I don’t want to justify myself, but it wasn’t planned.

The Capitol is No

Martin Fontaine, who spends all his time at his cabaret Le Memphis in Trois-Rivières, assures us that he has no plans to return to the Capitol.

“Seriously, we’ve come full circle. Here in Quebec, Montreal is a big exception.”

On the other hand, when he receives offers from outside Quebec, he listens carefully. The big markets of New York and Las Vegas, where he already presented Elvis Experience in 2015, would appeal to him.

Florida too.

“I would like to go there for two weeks. We go to the beach during the day and play at night. There are many Quebecers. They advertise, that’s what the people in Florida get and that’s it.”

  • Tickets for performances in Montreal on December 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16, 2023 go on sale on Saturday at 12pm.
