Emily in Paris star Ashley Park has openly revealed she almost died after suffering “critical septic shock” which “infected her organs”.
The 32-year-old took to Instagram to reveal her horrific health scare, which started with tonsillitis while on a New Year's holiday in Thailand.
She said she was in “unbearable pain” and struggled with “so much confusion” before going to intensive care.
The on-screen star said she is “still in the recovery phase” but is “certainly on the other side of the worst.”

What is Septic Shock?
Sepsis is a serious condition in which the body reacts incorrectly to an infection and instead turns against the body, causing organs to malfunction.
Sepsis can develop into septic shock. This is a dramatic drop in blood pressure that can damage the lungs, kidneys, liver and other organs.
If sepsis actually develops into septic shock, the risk of death increases.
Symptoms of septic shock include:
- Not being able to stand up
- Severe sleepiness or difficulty staying awake
- Significant change in mental status, such as: B. extreme confusion
Ashley opened up to her 2.8 million Instagram followers about her recent struggles as she shared stunning photos from her hospital bed.
She wrote: “As I sit here processing and recovering from the first few weeks of 2024, only one word comes to mind: gratitude.”
“During my vacation in December and New Year, what started as tonsillitis progressed to severe septic shock, which infected and affected several of my organs.
“I am grateful that my health has improved despite what we were initially told.”
The actress praised her boyfriend Paul Forman, 29, for being by her side “unconditionally.”
She added: “They calmed my fears and carried me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in intensive care, scary emergency rooms, countless scans, tests and injections, excruciating pain and so much confusion while we were alone on the other side were.” the world far removed from those we know.

Ashely went on to thank “every doctor and nurse in the ICU who worked tirelessly,” before concluding, “I was hesitant to share what happened since I'm still in the middle of recovery…but I know now that I’m safe on the other side.” the worst.

Her post was quickly flooded with supportive comments from her Emily In Paris co-stars, including Lily Collins.
She wrote: “I can hardly look at these without crying.” I love you sister and I am forever grateful for you being on the other side and for Paul for your incredibly big heart and for him is there every step of the way. I can't wait to hug you both.'
Ashley has previously spoken about other health struggles she has overcome, including overcoming cancer as a teenager.
She was only 15 years old when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and recovered after nearly a year in the hospital and chemotherapy.
After being told what to do and what not to do during her treatment, she was inspired to change her approach to health and wellness.
The Broadway star told Shape magazine: “After the cancer physically left my body, I made it my mission not to let it affect my life.”
“I didn’t want it to define me. People were so worried about me and I became the person who said, “I’m fine. Do not worry about me. I’m going to go after what I want and just do it.”
