Upset: She accepted and the couple hugged and shared a kiss despite Kim’s disgust at the situation, with Kim having hired Nicky to look after the children who live on their land pile (Kim, played by Claire King, pictured left)
In earlier episodes, Nicky confessed that he had feelings for Gabby, but he insisted they couldn’t be together as it could jeopardize his job.
He admitted that despite their chemistry, he couldn’t have sex with the young mother.
Nicky first caught Gabby’s eye when he arrived in the village as a nanny for Clemmie and Lucas, but soon learned his services were no longer needed when Dawn (Olivia Bromley) decided she didn’t want to work for Kim.
Luckily, Gabby reassured Nicky that she still needed someone to look after her son Thomas, and Kim agreed, meaning he could stay at Home Farm.
After learning she’d landed the job as Kim’s stand-in, a smitten Gabby decided to celebrate with Nicky by enjoying some champagne.
However, when she leaned in for a kiss, he quickly pulled away, admitting that he didn’t like her that way.
Speaking about the story, actor Lewis previously told Metro, “Possibly there could be a problem at Home Farm if they get together. Nicky is kind of focused on his job and thinks – we shouldn’t be doing this and backs away from it.
Co-star Rosie agrees the couple is a good match, adding, “They both like each other, it’s very obvious.
master plan? Not only was Kim unfazed by Nicky popping the question, viewers are convinced the proposal is part of a larger plan to get Gabby or Kim’s money
“I think the audience will goad them, to be honest, because you see two young people who are into each other, it’s very obvious what they want from it. But whether they get it or not, who knows?’
However, Lewis has already warned that Nicky has a darker side that viewers may see in the coming weeks.
He said last month: “Right now he’s a lovely person and there’s nothing else to say but he’s pretty much too good to be true.”
Emmerdale airs weekdays at 19:30 on ITV1 and ITVX.
