Viewers are about to discover the reason why Cain Dingle has kept his brother Caleb a secret all along in a special flashback episode of Emmerdale.
On Boxing Day, the soap is transported back to 1991 when the siblings first meet.
The bombastic episode will reveal exactly why the brothers became estranged after Cain made his feelings clear that he has no plans for a reconciliation when his sibling returns on Christmas Day.

Viewers will go back more than thirty years to uncover the truth about the brother’s troubled relationship.
Aiden Kane and Riccardo Drayton take on the roles of young Cain and Caleb and met Emmerdale actors Jeff Hordley (Cain) and Will Ash (Caleb) at a rehearsal earlier this year.
Cain is stuck in prison after taking the blame for Al’s murder to protect his son Kyle and has received some unwanted letters from his siblings.

On Christmas Day, Caleb visits Cain in prison – but their reunion isn’t well received.
Caleb is shocked to learn her mother Faith has only recently passed away after being told she had died thirty years ago.
As anger rises between the two siblings, Cain must do whatever it takes to keep his son’s Kyle secret.

Meanwhile, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) is in for an even greater shock as Cain has kept his existence a secret from her since she was a teenager – although the revelation will no doubt spark even more drama between the feuding siblings.
Speaking of his new role, Will, 45, who is best known for his role as Chris Mead on Waterloo Road, said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show.
“Emmerdale is packed with amazing actors and I’m really looking forward to working with them. Caleb is a fantastically complex character and I can’t wait to get into it.”

Meanwhile, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: “We are very excited to welcome Will Ash to the Village. It’s fantastic to have such a high caliber and immensely talented actor on our wonderful team.
“Calm and composed, rich and successful, at first glance Caleb is everything his brother isn’t, but will the two find they have more in common than they thought?
“What secrets from the past will haunt her and how will the rest of the family react when Caleb walks into town?
“His arrival certainly promises to shake things up for the Dingles and kick off 2023 with a big bang!”
She continued, “When Caleb arrived on screen on Christmas Day, without a doubt, Caleb has to be the most unexpected and shocking Christmas present Cain and Chas have ever received!
