A worker who was part of the ground staff of Piedmont, a subsidiary of American Airlinesdied the night before New Year 2023 because it was sucked into an airplane turbine at Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama (USA). The man was “involved in a fatality” while shutting down the machine operated by Envoy Air, according to the official statement.

The Embraer E175 aircraft, which corresponds to Flight AA 3408, had just arrived from Dallas. The clerk and his team were handling the luggage as it was sucked into one of the plane’s engines.

“We are focused on making sure everyone involved has the support they need during this difficult time,” American Airlines said in a statement, without giving further details.

Montgomery Airport spokesman Wade A. Davis told local media that the company was saddened by this tragic loss. “Our thoughts are with his family,” he added.

The facts are still under investigation and the airport was able to resume flights after five hours of paralysis. Regarding the type of aircraft that caused the worker’s death, it was stated that the Embraer E175 is an airliner of Brazilian origin, manufactured since 2001, with a length of 31.68 m, a wingspan of 26.00 m and a height of 9.67 m .
