A Walmart employee in the US went viral on TikTok after sharing a video of her leaving the store where she worked for ten years. Since its release on November 16, the video has racked up more than 24.9 million views on the platform and received more than 40,000 comments.
Gail Lewis recorded the moment she ended her work day for the last time at the Illinois store where she worked. Although the farewell was brief and broadcast over the venue’s sound system, she was emotional as she walked to the car, recalling the moments she experienced at work.
The employee described the departure as “the end of an era” and said she was happy and sad at the same time. “I’m leaving for a better job and these people have become my family. I’ve been through a lot with them. They took care of me and I took care of them. We went through a pandemic together,” he said in the video.
According to NBC, she received a message from management at the store where she worked. “I am grateful to Gail for her service and will miss her greatly. I wish her well,” Carrie Moses said in a statement sent by Walmart.
