The Legault government makes its promise of a 3rde Motorway connection between Quebec and Lévis. The new version of the single-tube tunnel will be entirely dedicated to public transport.

The Minister for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Geneviève Guilbault, will announce this at a press conference this morning.
It was a “difficult” but “responsible” decision, she said when asked by journalists yesterday.
The decision to abandon the twin-tube tunnel between the two banks appears to be motivated by recent traffic data, which, as mentioned during the campaign, has had to be updated to reflect the impact of the pandemic and teleworking in travel patterns.
With a single tube for public transport, the distance – still from inner city to inner city – will inevitably be shorter because the tunnel would no longer have to come out of the ground.
The new government project would also have the benefit of being eligible for federal funding, which was not the case with the highway project.
