Two people found themselves on the street after a fire severely damaged a semi-detached house in the La Haute-Saint-Charles neighborhood of Quebec on Wednesday evening.
The fire broke out just before 11 p.m. in a two-story apartment building on Lavallée Street in the Loretteville neighborhood.
The flames quickly spread throughout the building. As a preventive measure, Hydro-Quebec implemented the power outage.

According to the Quebec Fire Protection Service, residents of the site were evacuated and no one was injured.
A third alert was raised to mobilize more personnel while about fifty firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
After a fierce battle with the flames that lasted almost three hours, firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control.

Due to the extensive damage to the building, it was not possible for the residents to return to their homes immediately, it said.
A fire brigade team went to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
