The pipe belonging to the municipality gave way around 7:20 p.m. near 2582, rue de Port Royal. The water released from the pipe quickly spread down the roadway toward neighboring homes and seeped into at least one home.
The reason for the break has not yet been clarified, said David Pelletier, spokesman for the Service de Police de la Ville de Quebec (SPVQ). However, the leak was quickly sealed with a makeshift dike.
No one was injured in the operation, which ended shortly before 8 p.m.
