Authorities in San Francisco are concerned about the increase in incidents involving driverless taxis on the city’s streets in recent weeks.

A little over two weeks ago, the California Transportation Safety Administration approved these vehicles for use in the state.

But it is clear that things are not easy.

Videos shared on social networks and by several American media outlets show San Francisco streets completely blocked by several “autonomous” taxis.

There has also been a collision between one of these cars and a fire engine in recent days.

“Someone could lose their life… If a self-driving car collides with one of our emergency vehicles, it may slow us down and therefore affect what we do,” San Francisco Police Commissioner Jeanine Nicholson told CNN.

The woman, along with several others, is demanding that GM and Google organize new tests that will put the vehicles on the road.

A wish that has apparently been heard, because the state regulatory authority is now demanding that the two companies reduce their vehicle fleet by half.

Only 50 of these cars are still registered in San Francisco during the day, and 150 at night when traffic is lighter.
