With “stunning water views,” the eight-bedroom, four-bathroom villa can accommodate up to 17 guests plus “four-legged companions.” Equipped with a large double garage fully equipped for washing cars, the 6,000 square foot residence, fully furnished, also includes three fireplaces.

The house has been available to local interested parties and tourists since December 23rd. “We were booked almost daily from the beginning,” emphasizes François Duplantie, a real estate developer from Laval who bought the residence for $2.1 million in 2023, three years after the death of Thérèse Tanguay, mother of Céline Dion in the house.

“The minimum price is $1,100 per night for 17 people, but we currently have a discount for the first three Airbnb rentals,” explains the man, who also owns the company Construction Novatek.

Céline's parents lived there

Built in 2002, the residence on Avenue Thérèse-Casgrain in the Sainte-Rose district of Laval was occupied by Maman Dion until her death in January 2020. Her husband and father of Céline, Adhémar Dion, also lived there for a time, until his death in November 2003.

The property is next to one of the largest parks in the region. When Mother Nature cooperates, snow lovers can snowshoe, cross-country ski, fat bike and slide. There's even an opportunity to ice skate or fish on the ice right in front of the house, the property says.

The owners also promise a “thermal experience” with a spa, sauna, cold bath, outdoor fire, meditation walkway, yoga, etc. from spring 2024.

Abandoned condominium project

In 2020, Mr. Duplantie told the Journal his intention to begin construction on a project of 700 condominiums around Céline Dion's former mansion on Gagnon Island, as well as on the site of Thérèse Tanguay's residence, then slated for demolition.

But the announcement worried residents of the area and regulars at Rivière-des-Mille-Îles Park, who contribute to the development of the archipelago's wildlife sanctuary.

Due to a lack of social acceptance, François Duplantie abandoned the condominium project and instead opted to rent the residence through the Airbnb platform and register it with the Ministry of Tourism.
