A snowplow was snubbed by the city of Montreal after using its snow blower to hurl snow off a sidewalk directly at parked cars.
“It’s terrible, the lack of respect,” says Claudine Blanchette, who complains that cars are damaged.
On January 20, Ms. Blanchette caught a city employee using a snow blower to clear the sidewalk near her home, with the chimney pointed directly at the windows of cars.

She was able to film the scene and send the video to the journal.
According to them, the caterpillars normally used to clean sidewalks cannot bypass a post installed on a cross road. Therefore, a section of about 4 m must be cleared with a snow blower.
Most of the employees use snow cats to plow the rest of the road. However, some choose to put the snow blower there when it is not necessary.
“The images of the video that you bring to our attention do not reflect the work that is expected of our employees,” said Hugo Bourgoin, spokesman for the city of Montreal.
The municipality of Ville-Marie intervened with the worker concerned and sent a warning to all the workers concerned, he specified.
damaged cars
Mrs. Blanchette’s car and her neighbors’ cars have had their paintwork damaged several times over the past three years when City of Montreal snow plows threw snow from the sidewalk directly onto cars parked along the curb.
“It makes little pimples, as if we had rolled in the gravel. It’s really not a pleasant practice,” explains the resident of Rue La Fontaine.
“I’m going to park farther away now. I just had my car repainted and I really don’t want to see that [la souffleuse] close,” she says.
