US President Joe Biden is a well-known sports fan, but he may have angered much of Canada’s public by saying on Friday that he didn’t like the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Suppose many Montrealers agree with the 80-year-old man who made the remarks during his visit to Parliament in Ottawa. His audience, which undoubtedly supports the senators, was also very satisfied.
“Even our sports teams [croisent la frontière]. Baseball, basketball, hockey… you listen to hockey, yes? I have to say I like your teams, with the exception of the Leafs,” Biden said, drawing a standing ovation from MPs in Parliament.
“You know why? That’s because they beat the Flyers in January,” the president added, recalling his allegiance as a native of Pennsylvania. I married a woman from “Philly,” so I’d sleep alone if I wouldn’t take her. I love you, but not that much!”
It has to be said that the Flyers are having a miserable season – another one – and the 6-2 loss to the Leafs on Jan. 8 certainly didn’t help. The Philadelphia team is second from bottom in the Metropolitan Division with 66 points in 71 games.
