End of family conflict at Rogers Communications

The battle that tore the Rogers family apart for several years finally ended after the siblings reached an agreement that remains confidential. The sisters Melinda Rogers-Hixon and Martha Rogers are withdrawing from the board of the telecommunications company.

“Now that the differences within our family have been resolved, we both believe this is the right time to step down from the board of Rogers Communications. We remain proud and committed shareholders and look forward to supporting the company's future success. As our late father would have said, “The best is yet to come,” the two sisters said in a press release.

Recall that the dispute reportedly broke out in October 2021 after Edward Rogers tried to replace the company's chairman and carry out a management restructuring, a plan that was blocked by other directors, including his mother Lorette Rogers . He was subsequently ousted from his position on the board.

The following month, the Supreme Court of British Columbia finally ruled in favor of the son of the late Ted Rogers, but tensions remained palpable.

At the end of this multi-year conflict, Edward Rogers, who once again held the position of CEO, wanted to thank his sisters for their commitment to the company.

“Your commitment to Rogers Communications has played an integral role in the company’s growth and is reflected in the passion with which our employees serve our customers across the country every day,” he noted.
