Vladimir Putin today showed his anger at Russia’s collapsing economy and failed war effort when he publicly humiliated one of the deputy prime ministers and once again shook his high command.
The enraged despot blasted Denis Manturov in a government video conference for failing to procure military and civilian aircraft.
He accused him of playing the fool after the politician, a deputy prime minister and trade and industry minister, flew to NATO country Turkey on holiday over the New Year.
The video shows an offended Putin declaring: “There are no treaties. what will you tell me I know the companies don’t have contracts, the directors told me.
‘Why are you really fooling around?’

He told the hapless minister he had a month to clean up the mess that had led to a shortage of military planes for the Air Force and a failure to supply new planes to civilian companies hit by Western sanctions.
Putin stormed: “All this must be done within a month, I beg you, within a month… Don’t we understand the conditions under which we live?”
The chastised Manturov bowed his head.
During the war with Ukraine, Putin also shook his military command structure for the umpteenth time.
He made the war commander, General Sergei Surovikin, subservient to the Chief of the General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, in controlling the armed forces in the war.
The move appeared to bolster the much-criticized Gerasimov’s position amid rising resentment and dissent within the army.

Surovikin – aka General Armageddon – was not appointed his deputy by Putin but by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who was also heavily criticized.
“The increase in the leadership level of the special operation is related to the expansion of the scope of the upcoming tasks and the need for closer cooperation between the troops,” the Ministry of Defense said.
Putin badly needs a bigger victory than the capture of Soledar, which – if confirmed – was achieved by Wagner’s private army, made up mostly of prisoners, rather than the regular armed forces.
Putin’s change in high command secures the position of Gerasimov, who is seen as a loyalist with no political ambitions, while limiting the power of others, perhaps including Surovikin, who wish to overrule Putin on war tactics.
Two other loyalist generals, Oleg Salyukov and Alexei Kim, were also appointed to the top flight.
