Fans of Disney films won't want to miss the new immersive exhibition coming to Montreal this weekend until February. “It really is an activity for the whole family. “The older ones will relive their childhood memories,” mentions the producer ofCaptivating Disney animationBarry Garber.
This new immersive exhibition opened in Toronto a year ago and traveled to 16 international cities before coming to Montreal. And there is already great enthusiasm here, says Mr. Garber.
“The response in Montreal has been stronger than in any other city so far. Here we have sold most of the tickets in advance. […] Montreal is truly the city in North America that accepts and is open to exhibitions like this. In Montreal there was actually no failure in this environment. On the other hand. Montrealers really love this kind of entertainment.”
Over the past four years, Barry Garber has produced three additional immersive exhibitions at Arsenal Contemporary Art in Montreal. Exhibitions on Van Gogh, Monet and Frida Kahlo each attracted more than 100,000 people.
“Compared to other cities, it’s really exceptional,” notes the producer. I am involved in projects in the United States, Canada and South America. And in terms of the first reaction when we announce a new exhibition in the city, Montreal really comes first.
As the name suggests, Immersive Disney Animation highlights the work of Disney animators. Along the way, the audience can admire the huge drawings of well-known films such as “The Lion King”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Frozen”, “Pinocchio”, “Peter Pan” and “Mickey Mouse”.

“There’s a story to the creation of all these characters,” says Barry Garber. There is also an interactive area for children.
While visitors view images from these films, they can also listen to iconic Disney songs. And it should be noted that the French-language versions of these plays are performed in Montreal.
“There are also works that are being presented for the first time in Montreal,” mentions the producer. Like songs from “Frozen” and other musical excerpts.”
This exhibition in the Arsenal is currently planned until the end of February. But public enthusiasm already suggests it could be extended longer, says Mr Garber.
After Disney, the producer says he already has three more projects in the works, for Montreal or elsewhere. “Montreal is truly our home. But we also work outside.”
