Corus Entertainment has pulled the plug on culture show Entertainment Tonight Canada, also known as ET Canada, after 18 seasons on Canadian network Global News.

In a statement on its website, the company justified its decision based on the cost of producing a daily cultural magazine in a difficult advertising environment.

We recognize the impact of this decision on the dedicated team who worked on the show and thank them for their significant contributions over the years.

“Entertainment Tonight Canada,” as the show was called when it launched in 2005, has been offering a distinctly Canadian look into the world of cinema, television and music for almost 20 years.

Since its inception, the culture magazine has been hosted by Cheryl Hickey, who over the course of 18 seasons has surrounded herself with several personalities, including Sangita Patel, Carlos Bustamante, Morgan Hoffman and R’n’B singer Keshia Chanté.

Global News has announced that the culture magazine will end on October 6th. Specials celebrating ET Canada’s history and impact will then air until October 31st.
