2023 – CAR MECHANIC. It celebrates Auto Mechanic’s Day, established in 1947 by the nation’s Minister of Labor and Welfare.
This request was made to Adolfo García, Secretary General of Smata (Automotive Transport Mechanics and Allied Union of the Argentine Republic).
WHY IS THE DAY OF THE MECHANIC CELEBRATED TODAY ON FEBRUARY 24TH
On February 24, 1946, the first free elections after the so-called Infamous Decade took place; the polls left the position of President of the Nation in the hands of Juan Domingo Perón.
Some time later, the Mechanics and Allied Union document claimed that “the arrival of justicialismo in political power brought with it a new concept of political sovereignty based on popular sovereignty”.

And he pointed out that “the Argentine mechanics installed this date as a strong union instance because SMATA had done two years of intensive union work on February 24, 1947”, which is why this date was decided in Argentina as Auto Mechanics Day.
This day is a day off and is paid nationwide for auto union workers in a tripartite agreement between the national government, the union and auto companies.
