Users of the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) had to be patient on Thursday morning as traffic across the entire network was disrupted due to a power supply problem.
“During maintenance work, an equipment failure occurred which required major repairs […] There was no power, so no power in either direction, which made it quite difficult to “wake up the trains” this morning, said Michelle Lamarche, communications manager for REM., on 98.5.
Service gradually returned to normal around 7:35 a.m. and stabilized shortly thereafter.
At around 5:30 a.m., the service announced through its social networks that a technical problem caused a disruption in service in both directions. An hour later, a tweet clarified that it was a power issue.
An auxiliary bus service is available for travelers. You can view the list of buses here.
According to the REM recovery plan, “in the event of a disruption to the REM lasting more than 20 minutes during peak hours or more than 30 minutes during non-peak hours, buses will be deployed as quickly as possible by the REM partners, namely the Réseau.” de transport de Longueuil (RTL), the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and exo, depending on the extent of the need.
