Erdogan clearly ahead with the Turks in Austria news

The Turkish people with the right to vote in Austria have once again come out clearly in favor of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the presidential elections.

After counting 97.14 percent of the polls, the incumbent president won almost 72 percent of the votes, according to data released today by the state news agency Anadolu. Official figures from the electoral authority are not yet available. Opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu received just under 26 percent.

Also in Germany, the incumbent was responsible for almost two-thirds of the votes, with almost 98% of the polls counted. According to this provisional figure, Erdogan received nearly 65 percent of the vote in Germany, while opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu won just under 33 percent.

Swiss exception

In Switzerland, on the other hand, Kilicdaroglu managed to prevail among Turkish voters. After counting all the ballots, the opposition candidate won 57.60 percent, while Erdogan only got 40.33 percent. The background here may be that many members of the opposition found refuge in Switzerland after the military coup in 1980.

Erdogan fared much better in Austria, Germany, but also France and the Benelux countries, as well as other European countries with many foreign Turks than he did in the general election.
