247 Turkey will denounce Israel internationally for actions considered war crimes, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said during a proPalestinian rally in Istanbul dubbed the “Grand Assembly of Palestine” last Saturday.
Erdogan said: “We are preparing to portray Israel to the world as a war criminal. Israel is also being treated this way.” He stressed that the Western world is using its politicians and media to legitimize what he calls the massacre of innocents in Gaza, adding that Israel is committing war crimes.
Erdogan has emphasized the view of Israel as an occupying power, arguing that the West may owe debts to Israel but Turkey has no such obligations.
He also criticized those who expressed grief over civilian casualties in the UkraineRussia war, accusing them of remaining silent in the face of the deaths of thousands of innocent children in Gaza. Erdogan questioned whether the West was trying to create a Crusadelike atmosphere and blamed the West primarily for what happened in Gaza.
CONTINUED AFTER RECOMMENDATIONS
Erdogan stressed that while every country has the right to defend itself, what happened in Gaza could be justified not as a defense but as a blatant and cruel massacre.
He also expressed the view that Israel was a pawn in the region that could be sacrificed if necessary, citing a previous statement in which he stated that Israel knows how to kill.
Finally, Erdogan praised the resilience of the people of Gaza, who refused to leave their homes and cities in the face of bombardment by repressive forces.
