According to Newsmax Eric Bolling spoke to Rep. Jeff VanDrew via DirecTV, which dropped the conservative network, he challenged Fox News not to comment on the issue.
DirecTV pulled Newsmax from the schedule earlier in the week, citing a fees dispute. The move sparked objections from conservatives and Republicans, including the ex-president donald trump.
Some Republicans in Congress have floated the idea of hearings on the move, a position Rep. Van Drew echoed to Bolling on The Balance.
Van Drew said it wasn’t just a business move, but “crude politics” and “censorship” on DirecTV’s part.
“We need fairness and freedom of speech. And I believe Congress has an absolute responsibility to investigate this,” he said.
After the Newsmax news broke, DirecTV announced the addition of right-wing network The First to the channel’s programming, a move that propelled The First to stardom Dana loesch said shows that “nobody was censored.”
However, Bolling argued on his show this week that “low-rated liberal news channels” would be paid the fees in question, while “high-rated conservative channels are the ones being cut.”
Bolling asked if Van Drew would continue the hearings, and the congressman replied, “Yes, I will.”
After the lengthy discussion concluded, Bolling pointed out that Newsmax spoke up when One America News (OAN) was shut down.
“We campaigned for OAN. When OAN was de-platformed, we stood up for them. So that’s not the point. It’s not just about us,” he said.
He then asked Fox News to comment on Newsmax’s behalf.
“By the way, where are you, Fox? How about you, fox?” he asked. “How about you stand up for us! We did it for OAN.”
