“Something’s stuck.”
Éric Bruneau was the show’s main guest Once presented on Télé-Québec and for this occasion he was once again entitled to four personalities who would interview him!
That’s where we found the actor Hubert Proulxthe iconic Janette Bertrandthe author Catherine Ethier and the talented Luc Picard.
In her presence, the actor spoke for a rare time about various topics of his private life, including his worldview since becoming a father, his relationship with death and illness, but also the possibility of a father’s marriage to Kim Lévesque-Lizotte!

Accompanied by his friend Hubert Proulx, he initially talked about how he had been confronted with the disease at a young age.
“I was quickly confronted with an illness in my life. My father died early, my brother had cancer. Recently I wrote and said: It’s always in everything I write. It is in Before the crashIt is in Turn. In my 35 years, everyone in my immediate family had gotten sick. I was quickly faced with losing people or dealing with illness. It seems as if it made me realize how time flies and how important life is,” explains Éric Bruneau.
A reality he understood even better when he had his daughter Marguerite.
“At 35 I had my daughter and thought, OK, now you have to… it’s time to volunteer. You don’t have to apologize for wanting to get something. Looks like it’s all come together. When I was young, I was just a volunteer for the sake of being a volunteer. Then at a certain point, with fatherhood and the way life and then illness took over my life, it dictated all of that. It made me pursue the things I wanted to do,” he adds.
“How has being a father changed you?” Fatherhood, in your relationship to your job… Your father was very present (…) left behind this very hard-working, very brave side. What would you like to leave to Margot?” Hubert Proulx wants to know.

“I want to give him the courage to pursue his ambitions, not to be afraid of life, to embrace it and not to be afraid to make mistakes. So you get back up and carry on. It’s a cliché, but it’s true. I hope she has the courage to get started,” the actor continues lovingly.
Then, to his great good fortune, Éric Bruneau had the opportunity to speak with the great Janette Bertrand, where he spoke again about his daughter and the idea of marriage.

Above all, Janette Bertrand wanted to know whether he, like most actors, had a great need for the love of the audience or whether the love of those close to him was enough.
“There is nothing better than being on stage and being blinded by the lights. Then there are 900 people standing in front of you and you can’t see them (…) I remember when I had my daughter, for example, I started to play differently because there was a love at home that I no longer needed…” says Bruneau.
“Fulfilled?” adds Bertrand.
“Yes. We talked to Hubert about it earlier. Something about being voluntary (…) my daughter fulfilled something,” adds Éric.
A little later in the show, Janette wanted to get an answer to a very important question.
“Are you married?” Janette asks immediately and wants to know.
“No,” replies the actor.
“And why didn’t you get married?” Janette asks, making the audience laugh!
“I don’t know, it’s not final, I…” says Eric Bruneau, visibly a little unsettled.
“Your friend will listen and she will say: What should he say (…),” Janette Bertrand adds humorously.
“My parents divorced early. Something is stuck there. There are still remnants of that,” he admits.
Janette then addressed the fact that many marriages were statistically doomed (more than 70%), and that the formal nature of marriage led some couples to take each other for granted.
“While you are not married, there is always the risk of losing him,” emphasizes the 98-year-old woman, who has been with the same man for 40 years.
“I hope my girlfriend is listening,” Eric adds with a touch of humor but also relief.

“I asked you: Do you want to get married? Does your girlfriend want to get married?” adds the only big lady on TV.
“Yes. I think my girlfriend would like that. It’ll be clickbait! No, but yes, yes, my girlfriend is coming… my in-laws are an example of a couple who love each other, who have gone through time and who have three children “They had my girlfriend when she was 16, they’re still together. They’re still in love. My girlfriend is from there. I admit that I think it’s beautiful, then I see it,” Eric concludes frankly away.
A wonderful television moment in the company of Éric, Janette and Hubert…
