The leader of the Quebec Conservative Party (PCQ) presented his new candidates in a press release as people who are “driven by a momentum to get involved” and “to do things differently”.

It is Alexandre Leblanc, a cinema project manager, who will carry the conservative banner in Matane-Matapédia.

Mr Leblanc had represented the Conservatives in riding Duplessis in 2018. He then won 1.66% of the vote.

In Westmount-Saint-Louis, the curators are counting on a Ukrainian who works in gastronomy, Katya Rossokhata, who also studied biochemistry at McGill. The 26-year-old woman decided to enter politics alongside Mr Duhaime to “be innovative in education, health and business”.

François Vigneault will represent the party in Abitibi-Ouest. Mr. Vigneault is the manager of an IGA grocery store. He wants to transform the healthcare system, particularly by decentralizing decision-making to the regions.

At the Iles-de-la-Madeleine, it is Evan Leblanc, who works in the transport sector, who will defend the colors of the PCQ. Mr Leblanc deplored the difficulties faced by citizens of the Magdalen Islands who do not have priority access to the ferry.

Finally, Dominick Melnitzky will campaign for the Conservatives in Saint-Jean. The mechanical engineer made the decision to go into politics because he is unhappy with the Legault government’s management of the pandemic.

These new candidatures bring the number of candidates announced by Eric Duhaime’s party to 112.
