ADDIS ABABA, 24th November (RHC) – The Global Internet Governance Forum will be inaugurated on December 28 in this capital, the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation, the event will allow for a debate on how to maximize the opportunities of cyberspace.
It will also promote exchanges on public policies related to the network and information flow, underlines the note, which summarizes a meeting between the African country’s Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen and Uneca’s interim Executive Secretary Antonio Pedro.
During the meeting, held in the context of the African Union Industrialization and Economic Diversification Summit (Niamey, Niger), Mekonnen thanked the choice of Addis Ababa for organizing the conclave and stated that the Ethiopian government would support it.
Meanwhile, Pedro commented that “the forum will provide an opportunity to show Ethiopia’s best experience in advancing digitization,” according to the text released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (Source:PL)
