The Quebecer was dominated 6-2, 6-2 in a confrontation that lasted 72 minutes.

Bouchard suffered five service breaks. She made 63% of her first passes but only won 53% of the rallies played in that situation.

The 28-year-old athlete didn’t capitalize on the generosity of the 166th player in the world, who managed just 47% of her first serves.

It was Bouchard’s first return to singles competition since losing in the first round of the 2021 tournament in Monterrey, Mexico. She then had surgery on her shoulder.

However, Bouchard will continue his route in doubles in Vancouver. On Thursday, accompanied by her compatriot Kayla Cross, she met a duo of the American Asia Muhammad and the Japanese Miyu Kato in the quarterfinals. The latter are the favorites of the event.

Recall that Bouchard and Cross defeated Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Lucia Bronzetti on Monday.
