Evander Kane scores three times and gives the Oilers the win

Forward Evander Kane scored two goals in the third period to tie the game and completed his hat trick in overtime, giving the Edmonton Oilers a 4-3 win over the Seattle Kraken.

Without the 32-year-old veteran’s brilliant performance, new head coach Kris Knoblauch would have suffered his first defeat at the helm of the Alberta club.

Connor McDavid scored his fourth goal of the season right at the start of the second period to put the crowd favorite in the lead.

However, the celebrations in the stands were short-lived. Before the end of the middle period, Jared McCann, Pierre-Édouard Bellemare and Alexander Wennberg found a way to beat goalkeeper Stuart Skinner.

With about seven minutes left, Kane found the net for the first time. He repeated this with 46 seconds left in the period, forcing overtime. He scored his seventh hat trick in his career.

Defenseman Evan Bouchard also did well with three assists, while forward Leon Draisaitl was involved in two of his teammates’ successes.
