This week Netflix released the trailer for the miniseries Todo Dia a Mesma Noite, a fiction based on the fire at the Kiss nightclub in Santa Maria (RS). The production, inspired by the true story of the full tragedy that left 242 dead and 363 injured, is set to premiere on January 25. Two days later, on the 27th, the event closes 10 years.

The series is inspired by the book reportage Every Day at the Same Night: The Untold Story of the Kiss Nightclub by Daniela Arbex, which interviewed survivors of the tragedy and families of the victims. In addition to the journalist, who acts as a creative consultant for the production, Julia Rezende and Carol Minêm are responsible. Responsible for the screenplay is Gustavo Lipsztein.

The plot, which is divided into five episodes, tells the entire tragedy of the Kiss nightclub in a fictional way. The party, held in Santa Maria, will take center stage to illustrate the stories of the victims and survivors, as well as the work of rescue teams and the struggle of family members for justice days after the fall.

Kiss Nightclub Tragedy

On January 27, 2013, a fire in Santa Maria in Rio Grande do Sul shook the world. The place was crowded. In addition, during the Gurizada Fandangueira band’s concert, sparks from the torches hit the acoustic insulation foam ceiling panel, starting the fire. The foam also released cyanide, a deadly poison that can cause poisoning if inhaled. Smoke and fire left 242 youths (235 during the accident) and injured another 636.
