Marie-Claude Barrette was among the guests of Everybody’s Talking About It this Sunday, February 26, and there was apparently talk of the announced end of her contract with TVA.
A decision that the main participants understood according to their own statements, but still find it difficult to explain to them today.
One of the reasons motivating this change of direction on the part of full channel would be the desire of advertisers to primarily woo viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, even if they at least appear to be there.
This is particularly true of the morning program, which gave Marie-Claude Barrette the opportunity to appeal to a more mature audience that she feels is increasingly being left behind.
“Who is going to talk to grandparents about transgender people? Who removes the taboos? […] These shows really change lives. We had many testimonials and it is so touching to read them. But me, the messages I get from people are, “Where are we getting all this information from?” she said.
“If someone said to me, ‘We’ll replace you with the same type of program,’ I would say to myself, ‘Well, I’ve done my time.’ But I don’t think that’s the direction that’s being taken at this point. »
Despite everything, Marie-Claude Barrette sees the future positively, she already has a few meetings on the agenda and will propose a new project to us in the spring.
“I’m in the process of producing a podcast that will air in mid-April. I want to say that I bring everyone. What I will do will be inclusive. I don’t want to stress myself anymore because I’m not 25-54 enough. I want to talk to as many people as possible. No matter what color, what age, what size, for me they are people. And I talk to those people,” she reiterated.
The host also revealed that she was approached by the Liberal Party of Quebec, but is not interested in politics at this point.
The latest edition of the Marie Claude show will be broadcast on April 12th.
