Everything is coming apart at the seams! Vanessa Kirby suffers a wardrobe malfunction when she rips her semi-sheer top during her reunion with Crown co-star Matt Smith

Vanessa Kirby suffered a wardrobe malfunction while reuniting with her Crown co-star Matt Smith in London on Thursday.

The 35-year-old actress ripped her delicate semi-sheer top at dinner after attending the Napoleon premiere earlier in the evening.

As she left Scott’s restaurant in Mayfair, she was undeterred by the hole in her sleeve as she continued to sign autographs for fans who had been waiting outside.

Vanessa was also accompanied on the outing by filmmaker Ridley Scott and his wife Giannina Facio.

Despite the rip, she looked stylish in the high-neck satin top, which was teamed with a high-waisted pencil skirt.

The star completed her look with a pair of patent stilettos and tied her blonde hair into a neat ponytail.

Matt looked chic in a black trench coat and jeans as he headed off in a taxi with his girlfriend Poppy Delevingne’s ex-husband James Cook.

Earlier in the evening, Vanessa joined Joaquin Phoenix at the premiere of her new film Napoleon at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London on Thursday.

The Crown star looked as elegant as ever as she was pictured with her 49-year-old co-star on the red carpet at the star-studded event.

Joaquin plays Napoleon Bonaparte in the biopic, which charts the French leader’s rise to power, while Vanessa portrays his first wife, Empress Joséphine.

For the glitzy premiere, Vanessa cut a glamorous figure in a stunning one-shoulder red dress with a train that billowed behind her.

She let her outfit do the talking as she posed up a storm in front of the camera, ensuring all eyes were on her as she stormed the red carpet.

Vanessa also smiled for snaps with Joaquin, who cut a suave figure in a black suit for the occasion.

Joaquin was seen lovingly planting a kiss on Vanessa’s head as the co-stars posed together for their big night.

Also seen on the red carpet were Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood and his wife Sally, who looked as in love as ever as they posed arm in arm for the cameras.

Napoleon marks the first time Joaquin has reunited with director Sir Ridley Scott since his starring role in Gladiator in 2000.

Napoleon Bonaparte, later known by his royal name Napoleon I, was a Corsica-born French military commander and political leader.

He rose to fame during the French Revolution and led successful campaigns during the Revolutionary Wars.

The film explores Napoleon’s rise to power through his relationship with his wife Josephine.

Previously, it was titled “Kitbag,” which referred to the saying, “Hidden in every soldier’s gear is a general’s staff.” The phrase means that it is possible for any soldier to become a general.

Napoleon: What did the critics say?

The Chron

Evaluation:

“Even though it’s marginal, it gets a thumbs down for me.”

Rich

Evaluation:

“This is a historical epic that is constantly looking for subtle ways to subvert historical epics.”

The guard

Evaluation:

“Ridley Scott foregoes the symbolic meaning of earlier biographies and instead relies on a spectacle with a major star at its center.”

The times

Evaluation:

“Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby are a match made in heaven, trapped in a hellish marriage in this new breathtaking, spectacular historical epic.”

The Independent

Evaluation:

“This is a two-and-a-half-hour spectacle that translates brutal history through Scott’s brawny, deftly modern style.”

The Telegraph

Evaluation:

“The director’s 28th feature is a great piece of daddy cinema, with Phoenix as the surprising emperor and Vanessa Kirby as the brilliant woman.”

Of the film, Ridley said: “Napoleon is a man who has always fascinated me.”

“He came from nowhere to rule everything – but all the while he was waging a romantic war with his adulterous wife Josephine.

“He conquered the world to win her love, and when he failed, he conquered it to destroy it.” No actor could ever embody Napoleon like Joaquin.”

Ridley’s long-awaited biography of Napoleon has received rave reviews in both the UK and US.

However, French critics slammed the film as “deeply clumsy” and “boring” ahead of its November 22 release.

Historian Patrice Gueniffey described the film in Le Point as “an Englishman’s film…very anti-French” and criticized the director for his “wokist prejudices”.

A reviewer from GQ said the film “bored” her, adding that there was something “awkward” but “unintentionally funny” about seeing French soldiers shouting “Vive la France” in an American accent.

The Canadian French-language newspaper Le Devoir led the way with the headline “Not Waterloo, but not Austerlitz either,” referring to Napoleon’s futile last stand in Belgium and his tactical “masterpiece” against the Russians in what is now the Czech Republic.

The article described Joaquin’s Napoleon as “a sullen childish man who doesn’t really seem to know what he’s doing.”

Criticism of the film’s direction comes after director Ridley passionately echoed claims of inaccuracies by historians such as Dan Snow.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, French scientist Dr. Estelle Paranque acknowledged the film’s inaccuracies, but emphasized that “it is a film and not a documentary.”

But when talking about the portrayal of Marie Antoinette’s execution, she said, “It annoyed me a little bit because he made her kind of fearless and a little feisty, and she honestly wasn’t that back then.”

However, director Ridley hit back at accusations of historical “inaccuracies”. In an interview with the New Yorker, he told a critic that he should “live a life” when pushed.

“There have been 400 books written about him.” “Maybe the first one was the most accurate, the next one already creates a version of the author,” he said.

“Until Book 399 arrives, there will be a lot of speculation.”
