“Everything we own floats” –

This morning, residents of Montreal North had both feet in the water.

Two more rains caused damage in the north of the city on Wednesday morning. The affected residents therefore suffer significant damage to their goods and properties.

Damage was recorded on London Boulevard, not far from Henri-Bourrassa Boulevard, mainly due to canal jams.

“The garage is completely full,” a resident told our journalist Kevin Crane-Desmarais. “It went up so high that it came out of my garage.”

“My husband works in construction and lost all his equipment,” said another woman interviewed by TVA Nouvelles. “The shoes were floating, the televisions were floating. Everything we own floats.”

Between 20 and 35 millimeters of rain fell in just two hours in the greater Montreal area on Wednesday morning.

Residents in the area are currently carrying out a clean-up operation. After this surprise from Mother Nature, dozens of them emptied their garage, drained the water and disinfected everything.

It’s time for cleaning also on Rue Namur in Saint-Lambert. At least a dozen residents of the city on Montreal’s south shore saw water flooding their garages and basements early Wednesday morning.

It is the fourth time this year that an event of this kind has taken place.

“Within two minutes, my swamp overflowed,” said Saint-Lambert resident Carole Tremblay. “This leads to municipal pipes becoming clogged too quickly and that cannot be explained.”

This afternoon around 2 p.m. between 5 and 15 millimeters fell.
