Tour in the middle of the jungle in Costa Rica, Get me out of here! is the Quebec adaptation of the successful British format I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!. Jean-Philippe Dion co-hosts this fun and collaborative reality show with Alexandre Barrette that promises to bring families together in front of the TV.

Jean-Philippe, what is the concept of Get me out of here!?
Ten personalities live together in the jungle, sleep under the stars and face challenges that force them to push their limits to improve their dinner. This isn’t some knife-in-the-back reality TV. Instead, participants work together to add vegetables or meat to their daily servings of rice and black beans. It is an extraordinary human and physical adventure that also has a very humorous side.
Are there eliminations?
In the evening we host the Jungle Gala where another challenge is presented that decides the day’s elimination. At the end of the adventure, there will be one winner who wins $100,000 to donate to the foundation of their choice.
What kind of player is perfect for Get me out of here!?
All kinds are needed, as Dr. François Marquis, who is fearless and has traveled the world, and comedian Jean-François Mercier, who is afraid of everything. It is interesting to see the different reasons that led the personalities to take part in the show. Marianne St-Gelais, trained to win throughout her career as an athlete, wanted to learn how to lose through this competition. Dancer Rahmane Belkebiche wanted to take on a physical challenge, while Colette Provencher wanted to surpass herself – she was desensitized to rodents before filming! Colette, who we always see perfectly staged on TV, will show viewers a new facet of her personality.
Who do you think will surprise us the most?
People have never seen Nathalie Simard like they did in Get Me Out of Here!. He is the person who made me laugh the most in 2022. Sometimes I cried with laughter while listening to him!
What made you want to animate? Get me out of here!?
If someone had told me eight months ago that I was going to host a reality show, I would have been skeptical! But when this show came along, I realized that it was very much like me. Yes, there are spectacular challenges, but they also exist
Andréanne A. Malette admits that she hesitated for a long time before accepting the invitation to Sortez-moi d’ici! accepted. “After Star Académie, I was afraid that taking part in a second reality show would be perceived poorly. However, I realized that my desire to start had nothing to do with it being filmed. I would have even paid to take part in an adventure that, like this one, allowed me to break out of my Montreal torpor and take a step back from my existence. The show came as much-needed shock therapy,” she explains.
10 people get to know each other. It’s a bit like a steroid version of true nature.
Why do you and Alexandre Barrette make a good animator duo?
The original plan was for Alexandre to act as an animator and for me to just be part of the production team. At Productions Déferlantes we were looking for a co-host or co-host and during a meeting someone indicated that our complicity was perfect and that I should accompany him. Alexandre turned out to be one of my best professional encounters. At his side I learned a lot about the sense of punch and humorous writing. For my part, I could instruct him on the mechanics of such a television production.
The participants face demanding challenges. How did you take care of her health in the middle of the jungle?
A doctor was with us on set 24 hours a day, a psychologist and a coordinator for the participants. An ambulance was parked nearby during each of the challenges. In addition, we could count on a stunt specialist who has worked in several Hollywood productions. The participants suffered some minor injuries or insect bites, but they were treated immediately. Additionally, we’ve cut corners on certain details of our contestants’ lives, unlike other adjustments that leave their players very hungry.
