La Paz, August 12 (Prensa Latina) Former Bolivia President Evo Morales today reiterated that “the great country is moving forward with dignity and freedom,” as he tweeted outlining the resumption of bilateral embassy-level relations between Colombia and Venezuela .
“Colombia and Venezuela normalize their diplomatic relations with the appointment of their ambassadors, Armando Benedetti in Caracas and Félix Plasencia in Bogotá. We welcome the meeting of two sister peoples returning to the path of integration. The #PatriaGrande advances with dignity and freedom,” wrote the leader of the Movement for Socialism (MAS) on his Twitter account.
Morales warned the day before on this social network that the United States is preparing destabilizing actions against Gustavo Petro’s new presidency.
“We denounce the preparations in the United States of destabilizing actions against Brother @petrogustavo’s presidency and other socialist governments. Senator @tedcruz, funded by arms manufacturers and coup advocates, accuses the Colombian people of lying,” he added.
He recalled that Cruz, along with his Washington congressman @marcorubio, is defending the coup in Bolivia and is now falsely accusing the Colombian people of “threatening and endangering the security of the United States,” along with other countries in the region, for democratically elected left-wing governments.
The former president stressed that this warning, delivered by a senator accused of involvement in the attack on the United States Capitol that killed five, poses a direct threat to democracy in Latin America.
“Not satisfied with the blockade against Cuba and Venezuela – Morales warned – now he calls for the policy of the stick and the carrot.”
The first indigenous head of state in the Altiplano country insisted that although the peoples were freeing themselves democratically, the power of the North was losing its hegemony and was threatening interventionist politics.
Referring to President Petro and Colombian Deputy President Francia Márquez, Morales said they represent deep Colombia and a people fighting for their dignity and sovereignty.
“Both are the best guarantee of peace with social justice in this country devastated by the paramilitarism of the extreme right,” he concluded.
