The 39-year-old man who was arrested on November 11 was not at the courthouse to attend the hearing. Few details were revealed in the filing, but the indictment says a first incident occurred in August 2013 at a spouse’s home in Montreal.

The second incident is said to have taken place three years later, in June 2016. This second charge relates to a second victim, a crime also alleged to have taken place in a conjugal context.

However, it was not until November 2022 that the SPVM opened an investigation into these two incidents, in which he allegedly administered a harmful substance. Corneliu Munteanu was the subject of an arrest warrant promising to appear on January 11.

However, a formality resulted in a postponement of the performance in good and proper form. Corneliu must therefore appear in court on February 14, unless he is again represented by his lawyer.

Arrested for a robbery at Canadian Tire

A former participant in the second edition of the Star Académie, published in 2004, he has had a history of dealing with the law. The singer was arrested for theft and conspiracy following an incident at a Canadian tire in Laval in the winter of 2018. Accompanied by his ex-roommate, Corneliu was suspected of stealing less than $200 worth of kitchen items.

An arrest warrant had to be issued because the ex-academic failed to show up for his first four hearings.

In the end, however, the artist was acquitted after a stay of proceedings was declared in his file. The reasons for this turnaround were never disclosed by the defense due to a confidentiality clause.

However, Corneliu told the Journal at the time that he suspected a lack of evidence on the part of investigators.

His co-accused had pleaded guilty to theft and thus obtained an unconditional release.
