Since the early days of Virgin River, Mike seemed suspicious to many fans. Télé-Loisirs therefore interviewed Patrick Sean Smith, the showrunner of the Netflix romantic series, about the police officer.

Almost since the beginning of Virgin River on Netflix, I have always had doubts about the character of Mike. Am I the only one who finds the police officer, former Marine and friend of Jack and Preacher, suspicious? At the end of season three, when we were looking for whoever shot Jack, when we were wondering who the father of Charmaine's twins really was… the name Mike came to mind every time. I particularly wondered if the latter wasn't a corrupt police officer in cahoots with drug traffickers. A theory that was completely dashed in Virgin River season 5 when he worked with Brady to stop Melissa. Unless Mike hasn't said his last word yet and hasn't really revealed his true nature? So when I had the opportunity to interview Virgin River showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, I couldn't help but ask him about Mike and ask him if he was a really good person.

The question made Patrick Sean Smith smile and his answer makes me think that maybe I'm not entirely wrong about the cop played by Marco Grazzini. “I think we see that Mike is a good person in his relationship with Brie,” Patrick began responding to Sean Smith. “It was a love triangle that dragged on a bit at the beginning, but wasn't fully developed yet. I thought it was like this.” An opportunity to show Brady, with his dark and dysfunctional past, wanting to be a good person, and building a love triangle with these two men and what they mean to Brie. With Brady it's passionate, it's a little darker. With Mike It's soft and a little lighter. So it's interesting to see Brie in this tricky situation. So we can say that Mike is a good guy..”
“I don't want to completely put him in the 'good guy' category.”
However, the character's fate may not be sealed yet. “But I feel a little sorry for the actor Marco Grazzini that nothing had really been decided for his character beforehand,” Patrick Sean Smith continued. Everyone always found Mike a little suspicious. This is a character that deserves more levels. That's why I don't want to completely put him in the “good guy” category. Because sometimes the good people also do bad things. And the way he seduced Brie and treated Brady in the first part of season 5 may not have been 100% honorable…” Fans will therefore learn more about Mike and especially about his relationship with Brie and the love triangle with Brady in season 6 by Virgin River on Netflix.
