In the scene, Ed and Liz sit in silence, except for Ed to finally say, “Babe, I’m sorry I didn’t stop, but I didn’t mean to disrespect you…but he keeps coming at me.”
Liz is frustrated by his apology and snaps, “Of course, if you make up an excuse and tell it to someone else, you’re not willing to apologize.”
When he hits back, he replies, “But I also don’t want you to put yourself in danger to protect me. “That’s not your job.”
However, Liz refuses to give in and accuses Ed of “failing to prevent the moment”, adding: “I’ll never know if I jump in, it’s impulsive.” What you can do is not escalate the matter allow.”
“You shouldn’t have gotten involved in the situation,” her future husband quips, prompting her to ask, “How can I not?”
“I don’t know, control?” Ed says. “It’s between Jovi and me, not between you.” And I’m sorry. I appreciate you filling in for your husband, but it made me look weak. It made me look like I couldn’t defend myself.’
At this point, a visibly upset Liz is seen fighting back tears and retorting, “I’m making you look weak?” Are you kidding me? You don’t want me to be there and have your back and protect you. At least I had your back and had no problem protecting you.”
But Ed still refuses to see Liz’s point of view and doubles down on his position.

Unfazed by her comments, he yells back, “Let’s go.” Therapy is working, baby. This is our therapy.’
It’s been a tumultuous time for the feuding couple, and Ed admitted just last week that he doesn’t listen to Liz.
“She and I have trust issues and we don’t communicate,” he said, before promising to address their issues seriously. “Now we have something to work on.”
After the retreat is over, Liz and Ed plan to move in together in Arkansas.
But Liz has been vocal about her doubts, previously revealing: “Right now part of me just wants to break up because Ed says he’s trying to change but he doesn’t realize he’s running out of opportunities very quickly. “
