EXCLUSIVE: Former Trump aide who runs DeSantis’ Super PAC insists Vivek Ramaswamy and Tim Scott pose NO threats — despite their rapid rise in the polls and Florida governor’s decline
- The founder of the Pro-DeSantis PAC told that Vivek Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott pose no “threat” to the Florida gubernatorial campaign
- Ken Cuccinelli said the biggest problem is that every time Trump is charged, “oxygen keeps getting sucked out of the room.”
- Comes after Trump’s latest indictment was announced in Georgia on Monday
The founder of pro-Ron DeSantis political action committee Never Back Down told that he doesn’t see Senator Tim Scott or Vivek Ramaswamy as a threat to the Florida governor.
Ken Cuccinelli, who was a top Homeland Security official under Donald Trump, defected from the ex-president and is now supporting DeSantis’ run for the White House.
While DeSantis consistently sits a distant second behind Trump in the polls, several other candidates are gaining some ground in front of him in the crowded field, with Scott and Vivek often battling for third place — but Cuccinelli isn’t concerned.
Rather, he says that every time a new indictment is brought against Trump, “the oxygen is sucked out of the room.”

Cuccinelli said Wednesday’s debate will help DeSantis (pictured Friday) gain traction with American voters who couldn’t see him without the media’s lens
Cuccinelli said Wednesday’s debate will help DeSantis gain traction with American voters who have not been able to see his personality with their own eyes and through the lens of the media.
Speaking to in Atlanta, Georgia, where both Never Back Down’s headquarters are located and where the former president received his fourth and final indictment, Cuccinelli said DeSantis’ team has to juggle frequent attacks, but also with spread of the Trump news cycle.
Senator Scott (RS.C.) and biotech millionaire Ramaswamy are both vying to oust DeSantis from his second spot behind Trump.
Cuccinelli assumed leadership of Never Back Down PAC to encourage DeSantis to run for president before announcing his candidacy in May.
While he claims Democrats believe they’ve “struck gold” in their impeachments against Trump because they got out of their radical, mad left-wing perspective, he said the continued focus on the ex-president “isn’t good for America”.
‘[DeSantis] “takes on all coming attacks,” said Cuccinelli. “But that tells me who everyone sees as a threat.” And he has staying power and he’s resilient. He has a great work ethic. He has more fun on the trail, which increases his stamina.”
When asked if Scott or Vivek could outperform DeSantis, Cuccinelli wasn’t convinced they posed a campaign threat.
“I don’t think that’s where the threat necessarily comes from,” he told . “It comes down to personality and who’s going to do what.”
Cuccinelli said Scott is so “nice” that he doesn’t even attack the Democrats and that Ramaswamy is a hypocrite who preaches not to attack other GOP candidates but then attacks DeSantis
Cuccinelli, a former Trump Homeland Security adviser, said Trump continues to “take the oxygen out of the room” with his ongoing legal woes. This comes after Trump received his fourth indictment on Monday, which includes 41 counts and names 18 other people involved in conspiring to overturn the results of Georgia’s 2020 presidential election
“Vivek likes to go on TV and say, ‘You know, we can’t all attack each other after he attacked DeSantis for five days in a row,’ he said.”
“It’s just one thing at a time.” And it’s getting very old, and I’ll be honest part of the reason it’s getting old is because you guys don’t hold it accountable at all,” he added, claiming that the media should point out the hypocrisy.
Scott, on the other hand, doesn’t attack political opponents enough, Cuccinelli said.
“I’ve never seen Tim Scott attack anyone, including the Democrats,” he said. “And you have to be a pugilist to win.” “He’s a super nice guy.”
Scott and Cuccinelli both spoke at conservative radio host Erick Erickson’s conference in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday. Ramaswamy will also speak at The Gathering on Saturday.
