Joshua Jackson is “heartbroken” over his separation from his wife Jodie Turner-Smith, who filed for divorce on Monday after nearly four years.
Sources exclusively revealed to that the 45-year-old Dawson’s Creek alum is “not thrilled” about the dissolution of his marriage – but at the same time stressed that there was no foul play involved and that their marriage has simply “run its course.”
The couple, who have three-year-old daughter Juno Rose Diana, listed their separation date as September 13, according to TMZ, before Jodie, 37, filed for divorce this week citing “irreconcilable differences.”
“Joshua is heartbroken about the impending divorce, he always thought he would get married and grow old with his family and that everything would be happily ever after,” the insider said.

According to TMZ, the couple looked loved up at NYFW on September 12 – a day before their separation date listed in the divorce filing
“He had the dream scenario in his head and Jodie was his person and the person he wanted to be with forever.”
The source added that Joshua’s main concern is his young child, as the Canadian actor is now looking ahead to life of co-parenting.
“He never wanted this for their daughter,” the insider continued. “They are both great parents and will continue to be, he just hates that they will no longer be together as a couple because of their daughter. “They will always be connected through her.”
The insider claimed that Joshua would love nothing more than to get back together with his estranged wife, adding: “He would have loved nothing more than to continue being with Jodie and in a perfect world he would probably even take her back, if she stopped the divorce, but now that they’ve gotten here, he has to accept it.’
The source also emphasized that there was no bad behavior on either side and that the relationship simply came to a natural end.
“Nothing more terrible than infidelity has happened between them, the relationship has just run its course and it’s just a sad time,” she said.
“Joshua isn’t happy about it, but as we all know, life doesn’t always work out the way you want it to.”
The couple looked loved-up as they attended their last public event together at New York Fashion Week on September 12, just a day before their official split.
Celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser is representing Jodie and the actress is requesting joint custody of her daughter.
She doesn’t want any marital support for herself or Joshua because the couple hasn’t signed a prenuptial agreement yet.
In September 2022, the couple sparked breakup rumors after they unfollowed each other on social media – having previously shared several loved-up posts.
They then followed each other again, with Joshua brushing aside shared speculation as he spoke in a chat with E! raved about his wife! News.
“She is undeniably one of the most beautiful women on the planet,” he said. “And she always looks good when she’s on the red carpet. This is truly a miracle.
“But I’m telling you, there’s nothing better than waking up in the morning, opening my eyes and seeing her face in the morning.”

Jodie and Joshua tied the knot in 2019 after meeting through mutual friends in 2018 and initially insisting their romance was just “casual”.
The actress previously revealed that their romance started as a one-night stand and never ended.
In 2021, Jodie appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and joked that despite a fast start, their relationship was still going well.
“When I first met my husband, we had a one-night stand,” she told the host. “We’re in a two- or three-year one-night stand now.”
She then told Seth the story of how they met at a party and both immediately felt a connection.
“First of all, I saw him before he saw me, and when I saw him I thought, ‘I want that,'” she said. “And then when he saw me, I just pretended I hadn’t seen him.”
Although she seemed unfazed by Joshua’s opening line, she explained how he came over and did his “sweet and charming thing.”
“He followed me around the party all night,” The Last Ship actress added. “He felt the energy. He felt it.’
The couple began dating in October 2018 and tied the knot in December 2019 after the actress proposed during a New Year’s Eve vacation in Nicaragua and Joshua “instinctively” said yes.
