Australian ‘Married At First Sight’ star Jules Robinson slammed the addition of a controversial element to the 2023 series, which had many couples upset.
The 41-year-old reality star previously appeared on the show when she married Cameron Merchant in 2019, and the couple is still going strong four years later.
But in an exclusive interview with Web, Jules criticized the introduction of a “photo ranking test” that asks couples to rank the boys and girls in the order they find most attractive.
In some cases, they failed to get their spouse at the top of the list, leading to heated arguments and awkward confrontations.
Jules, who is launching her FIGURE shapewear range in the UK, said such a grueling challenge would make it “a lot harder” for couples, suggesting they should have “emotional intelligence” to do their putting partners at the top.
Hitting back: Married at First Sight Aussie star Jules Robinson has criticized the addition of a controversial element to the 2023 series, which has left many couples in turmoil
She said: “I think if you look at the Australian version, now they do the attractive test, or whatever they call it, and they have to line it up from one to ten.”
“What’s the good thing about that? When I took part in this experiment, I saw that there was no one I would fit with other than Cam.
“There was just no one and I just think I would have said straight out, ‘No, I don’t do that,’ there’s no benefit at all to doing that in a relationship, and then you see some couples doing that.” [you think] “Just put them on top”! It’s not that hard to make someone feel good.
“I don’t think there’s anything positive about that?” I don’t know why they’re doing this with the cast now, unless the person has some emotional intelligence and knows they need to put their partner on top. I just don’t think anything good can come of it.”
“Yeah, I think we’re just making it a little harder for the couples.”
“But let’s face it, they bring together five couples who have a potential chance and five just for the car crash TV. They really do that?!”
Jules added that she is supportive of Jessie Burford and Claire Nomarhas, who endured a turbulent ride during the experiment marked by infidelity when she kissed Adam Seed.
Fans hoped the show’s reunion would rekindle their romance, but Claire has since explained that he “ghosted” her after the experiment was completed.

Shocking: In some cases, they failed to get their spouse at the top of the list, leading to heated arguments and awkward confrontations
She told Web: “You could see them growing emotionally as people, actually learning from their mistakes and being really honest.” I really loved them.
“For me as a spectator, that makes a difference. I think years ago everyone was very emotionally involved with a lot of people.”
“And now it’s obviously so generic, and yeah, I was really excited for them. ‘I’d love for them to train.’
In MAFS 2023, only two couples chose to stay together at Final Vows: Tahnee Cook and Ollie Skelton, and Melinda Willis and Layton Mills, and both couples are still happily linked.
Jules and Cam married for the first time in the 2019 MAFS series, which became a catwalk hit when it aired in the UK during the 2021 Covid lockdown.
She admitted she was surprised by the new army of fans who discovered the show during the Covid pandemic.
