EXCLUSIVE: Shirley Ballas reveals she’s lost 9 pounds in just seven days ahead of the new season of Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly head judge Shirley Ballas has revealed ahead of the new season of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ that she’s lost 9 pounds in just seven days – thanks to a boot camp program.

Ms Ballas, 62, who is returning to the BBC show next month, has shared how she spent a week at Jason Vale’s luxury juice retreat in Portugal – a favorite among celebrities including This Morning’s Alison Hammond – and how she spins and yoga on put through its paces courses and start every morning with a two-hour hike.

Ms Ballas told Web: “I’ve lost 9 pounds.” Yoga is definitely something I’ll be sticking with throughout the Strictly series. I also cleansed my body, do a colonic, and get up at 5am every morning.

“I wasn’t there to sunbathe, I was there to take every spin class, hike uphill for two hours during which my heart rate reached almost 179, that’s how high we were hiking.”

“It’s been a tough, tough week of hard work, but I came back really refreshed.”

As part of her pre-show

As part of her pre-show “cleanse,” Shirley also underwent a colonic and says she plans to continue doing yoga throughout the new series of “Strictly.”

Ms. Ballas has suffered a great deal of trolling since taking office from the late Len Goodman in 2017 as Chief Justice of Strictly.

The ballroom dancer has now hired a trained social media manager to clean up any hateful messages after being subjected to vile abuse over the last two Strictly series.

Ms Ballas said: “I feel more prepared for series seven than any other series.”

“I have a new social media manager named Harry who is a math graduate and makes a living teaching math, but he took a year off.”

“He’s very knowledgeable about social media, so he’ll filter everything.”

“We will be working with my son, who will also be helping from the US.” “I’m hoping to take it easy this year.”

Known for its glamour, glitter and sequins, Strictly returns next month with 15 new celebrities, all dying to impress the queen of Latin competition.

And Ms. Ballas reveals she already has 32 stunning outfits waiting for her, but unlike dance, she doesn’t like getting involved behind the scenes.

She said: “I have a dresser called Alexandria and she makes all 32 outfits for me at the start of the run and then I rely on her.”

“I don’t meddle with the hair and makeup, and I don’t meddle with the clothes because they’re the professionals and they know best.”

Ms Ballas, who has previously been married twice, called off her engagement to stage actor boyfriend Danny Taylor earlier this year, simply saying in June she had “changed her mind”.

As a result of her hectic career, she admits she hasn’t seen Danny in “months,” but the couple are still “happy” and “talk every day.”

Despite the distance between them, Danny supported Shirley this week in her daredevil challenge, in which the dancer rode the world’s fastest zipline, completed a 700-foot wingwalk and mastered a 13,000-foot skydive.

In support of the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), of which Shirley is an ambassador, the TV star is raising funds to honor her brother, who took his own life in 2003 at the age of 44.
