  • A woman on board the flight said the man was “cursing” and acting “violently.”
  • A 27-year-old man was arrested by Greater Manchester Police this morning

This is the horrific moment a drunken Ryanair passenger confronted cabin crew after he “bought a liter of Jägermeister” in the duty free area before boarding the flight.

The passenger was filmed storming into a male cabin crew as he was told to “sit down” by others on board the flight from Manchester to Dublin earlier today.

A staff member tried to restrain the man by pulling him backwards, but he collided with the steward.

Another passenger was heard shouting: “I have my five-year-old here today, sit down!” A third crew member said: “Please stop.”

The flight, originally scheduled to take off at 10.40pm on Friday, took off at 3.29am today, almost five hours later.

The man said, “Get your damn hands off me,” as he pushed the steward back. He then took off his jacket and shouted “Get off me” several times.

A 37-year-old woman from Stockport, who wished to remain anonymous, witnessed the situation and said the man was “swearing” and “acting violently” on board the flight.

She told Web: “We got on the plane and then this young guy had been drinking, I think because it was late, he went to the duty free area and got a liter bottle of Jägermeister and drank it before he got on the plane.

“He was just getting on the plane, so we were left on the tarmac at God knows what time.”

“We were stuck on the tarmac for almost four hours waiting for new crew.” “Everyone was relieved when he was taken off the flight.”

The passenger said that in her opinion the crew had exceeded their working hours and therefore needed to be replaced by new employees.

“I’m a very, very nervous flyer and it’s also the first time I’ve flown alone, so it was really traumatic.” “We were literally waiting to take off when he jumped out of his seat and I thought we would take off with him like that,” she added.

“To be honest, I almost cried when I texted my family: “I have to get off this flight.”

“It’s just scary, it’s out of your control, you’re tied to one place, basically your life is in someone else’s hands and then you let an idiot do it – it just destroys your confidence.”

The woman added that the plane had to taxi back to the gate, where they waited for hours and ran out of water bottles and the children on the flight – only five years old – were “crying” because they were stuck on the runway.

The woman said the drunken passenger was arrested by police officers and taken off the plane.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 12.15pm this morning GMP were alerted to a plane returning to the stand.”

“A 27-year-old man was arrested on board a plane on suspicion of being drunk. He remains in police custody for questioning.
