It’s one of Queen’s most popular songs, but Fat Bottomed Girls has been mysteriously dropped from the group’s new greatest hits collection.

Written in 1978 by guitarist Brian May, the track was enjoyed by generations of fans as a humorous and rocking homage to a young man’s appreciation of figure-hugging ladies.

But 45 years later, lyrics like “Left alone with big fat Fanny, she was such a naughty nanny, big woman, you made a bad boy out of me” and “Big booty girl, you make the rock world” seem to be shutting down Find Go Round’ are impacted by the wake-cancel culture.

It was such a popular hit for Queen that it was included on the band’s fourth greatest hits album in 1981, along with Bohemian Rhapsody, Don’t Stop Me Now and We Will Rock You.

But there was no sign of that last week when Universal Records announced they would be releasing a version of the record on Yoto, the new audio platform for young people.

The move sparked confusion among music industry insiders, with bosses insisting that “Fat Bottomed Girls” was wrongly singled out because it was “just a little fun.”

One told The Mail on Sunday: “It’s the talk of the music industry, nobody can understand why such a good-natured, funny song can’t be acceptable in today’s society.”

“It woke up and went insane.” Instead of getting rid of people, why not value people of all shapes and sizes as society dictates?

It’s outrageous.’ Fat Bottomed Girls has long sparked debate about the suitability of its lyrics and the promotional material that accompanied its release.

The song’s original sleeve, taken from the Queen album Jazz, featured a scantily clad woman on a bicycle, but was changed after some stores refused to carry the song.

The new version featured the same image with panties pulled over the woman.

May told Mojo magazine in 2008, “I wrote it like you with Fred in mind, especially when you’ve got a great singer who’s into big butt girls… or guys.”

The newly released Yoto greatest hits album, released in association with Queen’s record label Universal, aims to introduce the band to a younger audience.
