Santiago de Chile, December 3rd (Prensa Latina) The Cuban film Innocence, directed by Alejandro Gil, premiered today at the Cineteca de Chile during the XVI. Shown at Iberoamerican Film Festivals.
The film tells a shocking fact and one of the greatest injustices committed in Cuba during the Spanish colony: the imprisonment, summary trial and execution of eight medical students on November 27, 1871.
Amelia Sánchez, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in Chile, explained that the film was chosen for its historical content.
The diplomat said his speech on December 3 coincided with the Latin American Medicine Day, for which he was of greater importance.
He added that the film will be shown at two Chilean universities next week.
The presentation was attended by intellectuals, members of the Solidarity Movement, Cuban residents and diplomatic personnel.
The Ibero-American Film Exhibition began on December 1st and will run until December 7th and will include the exhibition of feature, documentary and animated films.
On these days, audiences can watch films from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay for free.
