With the Dino Crisis and Monster Hunter sagas, Capcom has already built a solid reputation for playing games featuring all kinds of creatures. And while the month of July promises to be the quietest month in terms of video game releases, on the contrary, the Japanese developer has decided to step into the breach and present its latest product called Exoprimal.
In this online multiplayer action game set in the year 2043, teams of players must face off against hordes of dinosaurs willing to do anything to defeat them and put an end to humanity. Equipped with exoskeletons and futuristic armor with great looks, your mission is to fight with the creatures to unravel the mysteries of the island of Bikitoa and Leviathan, the artificial intelligence that will guide you in your missions.
exoprimal seems to be based on a fairly well-crafted scenario in which you’ll meet many characters, dinosaurs, scientists or members of the Hammerheads, the elite unit you’ll be part of. With different game modes on the program, Exoprimal is based on fast-paced missions in which you, as a team, have to achieve programmed goals from Leviathan. A dozen perfectly modeled dinosaurs will complicate your task, including Velociraptors and the T-Rex, but genetically modified creatures will also stand in your way. Three classes of humans are offered, which will hopefully add a real tactical dimension to Capcom’s title.
The game features PvP (player versus player) and PvE (player versus environment) missions to vary the enjoyment. Given the first published images and the first beta feedback, exoprimal could well be one of the nice surprises of the summer. Let’s just hope that the promises of an original scenario will be kept, because only then could the game find its place in the terrible world of MMOs. The mission will be difficult, but Capcom has already proven in the past that it is capable of not missing its goal. And what better way to do that than by combining science fiction and dinosaurs, two powerful pop culture themes.
If you like the conflict between the future and the past, the appointment will be made on July 14 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. Note that tooexoprimal will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one and a crossover with Street Fighter is planned for later this year.
