“We made this bed” is the Quebec studio’s first-ever video game Lowbirth Games, and it is set in 1950s Montreal and is inspired by the film noir atmosphere of the period. The game is a narrative and puzzling experience in which players embody Sophie, a chambermaid at the Clarington Hotel. On February 17, 1958, she opened the door to Room 505, an act that would change the course of events. Players explore the secret lives of hotel guests by examining fascinating objects. Each of these customers has a story to tell and secrets to hide.
The game offers an immersive narrative experience with exploration, puzzles to solve, and important decisions that affect the rest of the story. Players will discover a dark and mysterious plot as they explore the three floors of the Clarington Hotel. They have the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity by inspecting other people’s belongings and solving puzzles. You will also build relationships with the hotel’s staff and guests, including Beth, the femme fatale, and Andrew, the scholar. Every action and every door opened affects how the story unfolds, including cleaning the rooms.
The game exudes an authentic Quebec atmosphere, with local actors narrating the action with regional accents in both the French and English versions. To reflect the atmosphere of the time, the game features the popular song “Parc Lafontaine,” sung by Lucille Dumont in 1957.
“We made this bed” takes it out November 1, 2023 available on the PlayStation 5 console and the Steam platform and will also be available on December 13, 2023 on Xbox Series XS and PlayStation 4 consoles.
The game is aimed at players aged 13 and over and costs US$32.50 (US$24.99). Early buyers will receive a 15% discount the week after launch.
