For months, the international media has weighed in on his research into the explosions on the “Nord Stream” pipeline last September. New reports suggest that months before the blasts, the CIA warned Ukraine not to go ahead with plans to attack.
Prior to this, the US had been informed by the Dutch military intelligence service (MIVD) about a planned sabotage operation, the weekly newspaper “Die Zeit”, the capital studio ARD, the political magazine ARD Kontraste, the SWR and the broadcaster Dutch television NOS reported yesterday.
The pipelines were not in operation
In September, a total of four explosions in the economic zones of Sweden and Denmark on the Baltic Sea caused several leaks in the “Nord Stream” pipelines, built to transport Russian gas to Germany. The pipelines were not operating at the time of the explosions, but contained gas.
Since then, several countries including Russia, Ukraine and the United States have been suspected of being responsible for the attack. All denied the accusations. Earlier this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied his country’s involvement in the incident.
Report: Zelenskyy not informed
As now reported by the Dutch broadcaster NOS, citing the Dutch secret services, the high echelon of Ukrainian general Valery Saluschnij would have been in charge of the operation. A small team of divers and a sailboat were also involved. Zelenskyy was not informed about the action.
These details corresponded in essential points with the earlier findings of German investigators, reported “Die Zeit”, the ARD and the SWR. According to a Wall Street Journal report on Saturday, German investigators are also examining evidence that Poland was used as a base for the attack.
