Montreal police officers have arrested two people suspected of being directly involved in extortion attempts that culminated in several shootings in the metropolis in recent months.

Police struck early Wednesday morning at an apartment tower on René-Lévesque Boulevard in downtown Montreal and at two apartment buildings in the Saint-François and Saint-Vincent-de-Paul neighborhoods in Laval.

Searches were carried out there in the morning to collect evidence.

Two of those shootings occurred on November 25th. That evening, numerous shots were fired into the facade of a very luxurious property on Dumfries Road in the town of Mount Royal.
