It’s high time to get the costume out. That of the warlord, whom Emmanuel Macron had tucked away in the closet since his re-election as President of the Republic. Putting it on during the election campaign against the background of the war in Ukraine, he then experienced a surge in popularity, relegating all his opponents several cubits behind. So why not try again in the period between general elections?
Coincidentally or not, Emmanuel Macron flies to a two-day tour of the Balkans this week. First stop in Romania to meet French soldiers stationed in the region as part of NATO’s Forward Presence. Second stop in Moldova, where this time he accepts the invitation of President Maia Sandu. And why not stop by Kyiv to meet the President of Ukraine and hero of resistance to the Russian invasion, Volodymyr Zelenskyy?
