Fake red light photos of Taylor Swift, almost certainly created thanks to artificial intelligence, have taken over social media and been viewed millions of times around the world, drawing the ire of the singer's fans.
Taylor is apparently upset about the damage to her image, while members of the US Congress have doubled down on their calls to criminalize the sharing of non-consensual pornographic fakery like this one.
The photos appeared on Wednesday and quickly spread across X before the accounts that spread them were shut down. Fans of the pop star, in turn, have invaded the platform under the slogan “Protect Taylor Swift” to flood the offensive images, making them difficult to find.

There are fears that “deepfakes” will become a powerful source of misinformation, allowing anyone to create non-consensual porn images or embarrass political figures. For example, artificial intelligence was used to create fake “robocalls” (automatically recorded phone calls) from President Joe Biden during the New Hampshire primary, while a fake Swift recently appeared in kitchenware commercials.
